Co-op!?!?
So I just saw my offer on OUAC and it said that I didnt get accepted to co-op! By the way I got accepted to the psychology, neuroscience & behaviour program BA but I was wondering if I bring my average up for finals will they change their offer and give me co op?
PS. If i take all the science courses in level 1 can i switch to the BSc psychology, neuroscience & behaviour program? I only applied to this cause advanced functions RUINED me and I didnt think I would get in if i applied for that one in the beginning.

You can not be accepted into a Co-op program in first year- in most cases not until your going into your third yr of study (at least biochem and biopharm are like this). Just accept the offer to the first yr program you'd like to enter and then you'll apply to co-op in your upper yrs.

I don't mean to derail your thread, but i have a similar issue and i didn't want to make a new thread.
I applied to Engineering Coop here at lovely MAC, and this is what happened:
I got the email saying "You've been accepted to Engineering Coop!"
Then i check OUAC and this is what i see:
Alternate Offer:
Title: ENGINEERING 1 COOP (<--- notice it says coop in the title...)
Coop: NO.
Anyone know what this means?
Thank you!

Not entirely sure why. But Co-op in engineering here is not compulsory to graduate (unlike, say, Waterloo, where you can't graduate until you finish certain work terms). Here if don't complete 12 or 16 months work terms, you'll still graduate but without "co-op" in your degree.

Dont worry. If you really want co-op in first year all you have to do is pay an extra 100 and sign some papers. I recommended against it though, it was a waste of 100 as its extremely difficult to get a co-op job after first year.

It really is very hard. Try to ask your family or friends if they have some positions (even unpaid). You can declare it as a work term if they are related to engineering.

I think what it might be is that here at Mac you have to complete a co-op course before you can accept a co-op position, so you're accepted to be able to take the course but you haven't taken the course yet so technically you aren't eligible to do co-op yet.

Don't worry about it. Even if you don't apply to co-op, you can sign up in like 2 seconds after being accepted. Also, you shouldn't really worry about it until third year - it's very difficult to find a job until after you have completed third year.

Just an update,
McMaster Liaison's office has said that if you have received an email stating that you have been accepted to your program of choice and OUAC says different with an alternative offer, it should be fixed now.

Yeah exactly, until you complete 3rd year, save your $200 from the coop program, dont use it.

Hey, thanks for the answer. I emailed admissions and they said it's an error.
Thanks!
