MacInsiders has seen amazing growth over the past month and would like to hear from you, our members, about your likes and dislikes, what you would like to see more of, which articles you found most useful, and any constructive criticisms you may have.

Normally we would do this through a public general club meeting on campus, but since school hasn't started yet, we will utilize the forum to facilitate feedback discussion. Please take a minute and post what's on your mind and what attracted you to the site, as we want to make your MacInsiders experience bigger and better as we continue to bring students together.

I remember seeing a review thingy on the site before but it was taken down. I suggest you bring it back as I have plenty to review

Is there a way to stop the site from sending an email to your email address every time someone posts a reply on a forum you have typed info on, because I don't like getting those emails all the time - it blocks up my mailbox.

yes, there is a way to fix this and I will post about it asap on the homepage

You can turn it off via your "Settings" in My Account

WOW!!!! Thanks for posting an article about the emails, I definately wasn't expecting that much response from my post, and I think that is totally awesome. You guys are doing a great job at running this site - keep it up!!!!!!!!!!

MacInsiders is a great idea!
(Except maybe not for me, -I have an internet forum addiction... meh.)

Anyways, I think it would be neato to have a kind of useless discussion area in the forum. You know what I mean? A kind of very open discussion area, for lively banter and mellow chit chat. It would probably generate a lot of activity in the forum boards because we don't always have purely school related things to talk about? I'm not sure if I'm making any sense, but I know from experience in other forums that the pointless talk or completely off topic section is always active, and generally very funny to visit. I didn't see anything like this on the site so far but I might have missed it.

But I can understand if you want to keep it school related, those off topic boards can become a moderator's pet peeve. I suppose it all depends on how much student interaction you want have on the site.

We've kept the 'open discussion' forum quite general to allow for off-topic discussion (eg: Big Brother 8!) but we can try out possibly having a designated forum just for off-topic discussion.

I'll make a new forum for it and move off-topic threads to the forum and we'll see if it catches on or not.

As for moderation, members should know the rules we have set in place for what is acceptable in the forum and need to follow those.
