Joe Kim messing stuff on purpose. Why that would be manipulative and unethical. Joe Kim has a heart of gold and would never do something like that.

Im taking a wild guess that you reported onedayy's comment, get a life. The fact that you are raging this hard over the pronunciation of a single word is pathetic really. So the guy has an accent or consistent mispronunciation of a word. I went through your posts in this thread and there are numerous grammatical/spelling errors. Does that warrant me making a thread? no. But it does make you look extremely foolish.. creating a thread to bash someones use of the english language while commiting your own mistakes in the same thread, priceless!
Yes, your comparison to non consensual sodomy is very fitting. I could not agree more.

Rape always makes for a good aphorism.

yeah, are you prepping for your Polish medical school interview. I think it consists of you paying them and them saying welcome aboard.

My goodness. Please calm down. Both you, and Daniel, and everyone else who seems to be taking this thread personally. Are we even talking about psychology at McMaster anymore?

Leave out the marks (I'm sure chelseamrae's marks are fine) and the future (Danielrus can go for medical school if he wants and he has as much of a chance as anyone) and all the other misc stuff (hi, I didn't want to go into health sci, nor do I want to be a doctor ... science students like that exist, you know).

Like I mentioned before (which you didn't reply to in your deluge of posts, by the way) - do you have any legitimate concerns about introductory psychology? I'm serious. "Air your grievances". Facilitate actual discussion. If you want to prove that you're not just a troll hellbent on pissing on Joe Kim, then now is the time to do so.

I'm not trying to patronize you here. I apologize if it came out that way, I just don't understand what you're trying to accomplish here. But the fact that the only thing you got out of my post was the part about airing grievances and your only response is to mock me with parody holidays, it's a little difficult to take your particular concerns seriously.

Hopefully, something beautiful comes out of all this, and by that I mean Joe Kim homoerotic fanfac. That is so long overdue.

If Joe Kim could respond to this thread I think he would say "like why are you so obsessed with me ?”

Joe Kim fosters unhealthy obsessions.

I am off to write Joe Kim FanFic now. I'll post the link as soon as I am done the 1st chapter.

Its gonna be about Joe and his adventures in San Francisco. If you are wondering if it will be erotic you will just have to read to find out.

No one even bothered to take this question seriously. People who say diabet-us instead of diabetes, and old timers instead of Alzheimers hear everyone else around them saying it the typical way, they don't even realize they are saying it the non typical way.

There were links posted stating that Alzheimers is one of the most commonly mispronounced words.

The only issue with saying it as old timers, is that some people actually think the name of the disease is old timers disease.

Just like people think the expression is “doggy dog world ” and for “all intensive purposes.”

Those are not so much an issue, but calling Alzheimers dementia old timers disease is problematic. In my opinion.

I don't know if there is any point in correcting someone who is inadvertently saying Old Timers. They don't realize they are saying it that way, and there likely is a neurological explanation. (Not saying that this constitutes pathology.)

Well it clearly ruffled your feathers. The amount of raging you are doing in this thread though is definitely making my lunch breaks at the office extremely enjoyable this week tho!

Omg when people screw up those expressions it irritates me so much. It's like people don't even think about what they say.

I think calling AD "old timers" is only problematic if you're doing it intentionally...if it's a speech idiosyncracy (eg diabet-us, sang-wiches) then there's not really much you can do. I agree that it's not an accent, but it's difficult to get people to change their patterns of speech, especially when they're so ingrained into them.
I have a cousin who, for whatever reason, says sang-wiches instead of sandwiches. She's 6, and has always done that, despite the fact that none of her relatives say it that way (with the exception of one uncle who she doesn't see very often).
Could just be that these people hear the words differently - like an auditory processing disorder or something. I don't know.

I was in linguistics for most of my university career and most of my profs are not native English speakers. They mispronounce words all the time and that's understandable since English was not their first language. Get over it, I'm pretty sure you will get profs who are not native English speakers at some point.
