well if you're attempting to get a business minor then take the commerce course. taking the economics course will only assist you in getting an economics minor

You can actually substitute econ 2i03 for comm 2fa3 for the business minor. Also econ can be a prereq for comm 3fa3 so you wouldnt have to take comm 2aa3 as a prereq to comm 2fa3.

1st year econ --> econ 2i03 --> comm 3fa3

OR

1st year econ --> comm 2aa3 --> comm 2fa3 --> comm 3fa3

I don't think anyone here will be able to actually compare the two courses since no one's ever taken both. If they have, then they wasted their money.

That being said, I took 2I03 for the same purposes and found it moderately interesting. It's pretty number heavy, but there are a lot of real-world applications of what you're being taught. The prof is a little dry, but he knows his stuff. I often regret not paying more attention because it seems like a lot of what I learned has been completely forgotten at this point.

Also, you actually don't need to take any level III courses for your minor. My route includes:

Econ 1B03, 1BB3, 2I03
Commerce 2AA3, 2BA3, 2BC3, 2KA3
Stats 2B03 (substitute for Commerce 2QA3), 3Y03 (As an Eng student, I have to take this anyway but it also counts toward my minor)

Actually, I could have gotten way with not taking Stats 2B03, but one of my favourite profs is teaching it and it'll probably be good practice for 3Y the following term anyway.

But yeah, there are a few routes you can take with the business minor. If you want a bit of everything, do what I did. If you want to "specialize" in a certain field, then you can take upper-year Finance, Accounting, or OB/HR courses.
