How is Commerce 3FA3 compared to 2FA3?
Right now, I'm struggling through Commerce 2FA3. What worries me most is that Commerce 3FA3 is required next year, and 2FA3 is the clear prerequisite for it. I think I can make it through the course, but am worried about how I will handle 3FA3 come next year.

Can anybody share their experience with this course and how they found it/how it compared to 2FA3? How are the courses similar/different?

Hey,

I personally found 3FA3 easier than 2FA3. Why? Takes a less "mathy" approach for a more theoretical one. I believe there are formulas and Math involved for each chapter, but it's less intensive since there are no double summations, and other things like in 2FA3. I ended up with a mark two grade points higher in 3FA3 as opposed to 2FA3. I took it with Dr. Chamberlain, who is a very great and humble character. Try and get to know him outside of class too, he's really nice.

I agree with what Humza said. I had the same experience with the course. And personally, I used the textbook most and I found that it was so much better than his courseware, which seemed useless to me. but overall 3fa3 is much better than 2fa3

What part of 3FA3 did you find made it harder?

I personally thought 2FA3 was a stupid course. I learned more from the TA than from my professor at the time. My professor would never teach or touch upon the most important points of formulas that he would test heavily on during the midterms so I had to spend extra time searching stuff up on google and investopedia and talk to the TA so he could teach me. The professor also wrote the textbook himself and made us purchase it and it was such a useless textbook too.

Once he even placed a question in our weekly quizzes which required the use of a formula in the appendix/glossary of the textbook. He never even mentioned the formula in class. When I asked him about it in class, he said "sorry, I can't help you or give you a hint."

I loved 3FA3 though, I learned a lot of useful things with Chamberlain that I'm still using now that I've graduated and working full-time. His courseware I found was easy to follow and contained pretty much everything needed for the midterm. A lot people thought otherwise though.

Yea I'm hating the current profs and the course. I'm not into finance at all so I still couldn't imagine myself enjoying 3FA3, but hopefully it will be a better course for me.
