DC++ Question!
DOES IT WORK OFF CAMPUS? My house is across the street from the Mr.Sub.
I've had dial up all summer (yes, it still exists). I'm dyingggggggg. I need downloads of 5gigs/second, lmao.
So, does it work off campus? o_O Does it slow down at all because of the distance?

It works off-campus, but it downloads/uploads over the Internet. So it's still going to be really slow.

Other people will answer this waaay better than me, but I think it works off campus, but it's slow. I believe it's basically the same as downloading through the internet, because you aren't directly hooked up to the little local network that makes DC++ so magically speedy. (or something of the sort)

Anyone can use DC++ the program but to use the MacHub you need to be in residence as far as I know.
Even if you could access that hub or another hub off campus you wouldn't get the download speeds residence students will be getting. They get the fast downloads b/c it is LAN.
Also internet providers typically have bandwith caps, in residence downloading from DC++ does not count against your bandwith quota since it is LAN. Off campus anything you download would count towards your bandwith usage. If you go over your bandwith limit in any given month (depending on your provider) you get charged extra.

If you want 5 MB/s speeds outside of a LAN, you're going to have to move to Sweden, lol.

This isn't a bad suggestion. Higher education is publicly funded in Sweden.
