Now, would that differ at all if I plugged into an ethernet port? I assume not. How about a place like commons, would that work with DC++ downloading?
I used to download a lot, but cogeco recently implied bandwith limits so I'm hurting to get some new movies.

I recently tried that. The MacConnect network doesn't really seem to be integrated at all with the residence network. DC++ works just as crappily on that as it does off-campus :(.

Yup, the only wicked fast speeds you'll get is between on campus users (in residence). It's not that it's a separate network (you'll notice similar 130.113.xxx.xxx addresses between res and non-res), it's the amount of firewalling that prevents fast speeds between those users.

Also, there's several major restrictions for non-residence campus lines that make connecting to DC++ pointless. I wouldn't recommend it.

Open the program go to preferences then the identities tab and add a nickname (can be anything). Then go to the sharing tab and add folders you want to share (I think you have to share atleast 500mb). Close the preferences window when done. Then click the connect to hub button on the main window type in the hub address machub.dyndns.org and connect.

I downloaded and installed DC++ and also followed the instructions for setting it up http://www.macinsiders.com/showthread.php?t=1948 7
But when I try to search for files I don\t get any results. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
