Decorating
I know it may be early to think about this, but what can you use to decorate your walls in your dorm room (make it less dull and more colourful)?
PS, I'm not much of a picture or poster person

If you don't like pictures or posters, then you don't have much else to make the walls better. I guess you can get some small letters or whatever. You are not allowed to nail anything to the walls, and if I do recal they don't fully allow tape, but everyone still tapes stuff up

As long as the tape doesn't damage the wall/paint then they wouldn't know, and if you wanted to be extra safe you can take everything down prior to winter break so that when they check the rooms they don't see you've been using tape.

Well since u dont want pictures, posters, which also eliminates wallscrolls, and personal artwork. Try to hang like flags, favourite sweaters/clothing, or put like stuff animals onto top of you cabinets if you are interested. BE sure to hang a calender, and schedules for term 1 & 2. Not much else i can say. So i leave it to the next person.

Calender's are great for sure. I duno about schedules. I saw so many people buy like wall planners but never used them and threw em out after. For me it was just a hassle to write down every assignment,test or quiz due date etc.

I forgot. Hang you timetable for term 1 & 2 for sure. maybe a map of mcmaster campus to.

@Leeoku
Interesting. My friends and I do make schedules for our assignments and midterms during the terms. Although we do this in one day. I rather feel depressed and aware of an assignment/midterm a week before rather than the night before the deadline. IMO. I dont use planners, the calender works just fine. lol

the aim is not to damage the walls, so you can use whatever you want as long as it doesnt leave the wall looking any different than how you found it.

You could hang a life-sized Justin Bieber cardboard cut-out from the ceiling.

Like others have mentioned before, hanging up a calendar is extremely helpful if you're the sort of person who likes to see what the month looks like for you in terms of homework/tests/midterms/events/other commitments/etc. Putting up your timetable is also very useful (but you'll probably end up memorizing your schedule a few weeks in!). If you have any close friends at Mac, or as you make friends in your residence, having their timetables can also help if you want to know where they are at all times! As stalker-ish as it sounds, this is a nice way to be lazy and not go knocking at someone's door when they're in class! This also helped my friends and I plan out dinners and times to go to the gym together without needing everyone present at that moment to let us know their schedule. Every room comes with a bulletin board. Like you, I don't like putting up pictures/posters; however, I covered my entire board by the end of the year with random notes, little gifts, cards, letters, etc. that I had received. I say, get as creative as you want but remember not to damage the walls in any way...or else you'll have to pay a fee at the end of year. And if you ever change your mind about posters, there usually is a poster sale that you should definitely check out! You MIGHT change your mind!
