usually yes, absolutely.
Given that you have more time to study, it is only fair that the deferred exam is harder. In addition, some profs may require an oral deferred exam which wont have any absolute structure and grading will be based more upon the profs opinion of your work.

If you mean final exam and not midterm, chances are it will be later and you wont remember anything which is unfortunate. (deferred exam for last semester this reading week I assume?)

Good Luck!

If the professor curved the grades for people who took it before the deferral period, would he curve for those who took it in the deferral period, too?

I want to know if you guys have heard back in form of an email or indication on grade report that defferal has been granted. I don't see 'DEF' beside my grade as of yet.

A deferred exam should be (almost) identical to the actual exam.

It's only unfair if people told the person what was on it...in which case the people making it unfair are the students who told the person.

I disagree that just because a deferred exam is so much later, it should by default be harder. You defer for a reason, so that circumstances outside your control don't put you at a disadvantage. Having a harder exam puts you at a disadvantage. Writing months after you've finished the course puts you at a disadvantage.

I've never deferred an exam, but if you're doing it for a legit reason, I don't think you should be punished for it.

Okay...by knowing this and not reporting it, you're considered guilty of academic dishonesty as well as them.

I know several people who have deferred for legit reasons, and it's unfortunate that people like this make it harder for those who genuinely need to defer.
