Why did anyone ever play Diablo II? To mess around with character builds in non-linear fashion.

What does Blizzard decide to do for Diablo III? Remove skill trees. The only thing that differentiates you between other users of your class now is your equipment.

Wait, could you elabourate? I havn't been following the game development at all..... hearing that makes me want to cancel my preorder of the collector's edition..

I can't even install the beta because of the faulty download/install alot people are experiencing.

I just downloaded and installed the Beta... But now I am struggling to connect, as apparently "the servers are too busy. Error 37." This is not giving me a very good impression of the game. I really enjoyed Diablo 2 for a while, so I thought I would give this a try... Might not even bother any more.

I played it for about 3 hours last night. When you level up, you DON'T get to assign skill points or attribute points.... everything is decided for you. i.e. you get Skill A when you reach level 3, Skill B when you reach level 5, etc.

WORST part of the game, by far. Making me second guess buying it. Certainly kills any replay value, that's for sure.

The tl;dr of the video is "we don't trust the gamers to be responsible and play the game like we want them to play it, so we took all the fun away"

^ i watched that video, it is interesting justification and does make sense to get more players to play initially, but in the direction it seems the game would die out faster since when you replay there is less variation and everyone in your class will have nearly identical skills.

Go to work: Farm for money
Go to school: Farm for better skills
Playing Diablo 3: Pretty much doing the same shit as above

From what I can see on the beta, this game is terrible. At first I was like... maybe it'll be good for a couple of playthroughs... but... noooo... :(
