Difference between 1st & 2nd year eng
So heres the thing, right now im not really enjoying the classes, meaning the material covered, like mechanics in physics and chemistry in general. I would really like to go into Comp Eng in 2nd year but im wondering how much physics and math (well obviously math) is involved, like what do you do in the courses in Comp Eng? Any feedback from upper years would help!

2DI4 is circuit logic; its all about logic gates, and combinations of logic gates to implement into systems such as adding digital numbers etc, as well as signals propagating through a system and tracking what happens
2DP4 = not sure
2SH4 = java or c# programming
2CI5 = microelectronics, really tricky things; incorporates semiconductor physics as well as circuit analysis
2CJ4 = circuit analysis and what not... fun!
2FH3 = didn't take it, didn't seem too hard of a course, its electomagnetics from the physics you take in first year but in more detail
2z03 = lame
2nd year for electrical, computer, and biomed else have are similar courses

Heres a few through a quick google search...
Math 2Z03
COMP ENG 2DI4
ELEC ENG 2CI5
Or you could just see if there are reviews in the 'Reviews' section of this site.

Look for course outlines. We have a good database on here, but Google has some too. They'll give you an idea of what you'll be learning.

You won't need mechanics, and almost no chemistry (just simple concepts for courses like microelectronics) in comp eng. Math tends to be more algebra oriented rather than calculus, except for some of the second year courses. Of course there's second year math that you need to take, which is another adventure entirely.
Make sure you enjoy 1D04 and the whole idea of comp eng, keep in mind that things are much more focused starting in second year.

I was in comp eng II last year, now in Comp eng III. If you don't like term 1 physics that is alright. However, if you don't like term 2 physics, you should really reconsider.
Term 1:
2DI4: Logic design (gates, binary, etc)
2Z03: math (all streams take it)
2SH4: programming (java and C)
2CI5: circuits
Term 2:
2DP4: Microcontrollers (extension of 2DP4)
2SI4: Programming (only Java)
2EI5: Microelectronic Circuits
2FH3: Electromagnetics
2CJ4: Circuits
So clearly, you need to have some understanding and liking for Circuits and programming. Also, 2DI4 and 2DP4 are important since in third year you have a course called 3DQ5 which builds heavily on them.
