How do you sleep at night?
For the past few years I've been at Mac, I haven't lived in a decent house where there weren't annoying housemates or neighbours who blasted music until 2-4am even on school nights. I've usually used ear-plugs but they aren't effective at all against bass and usually I'm up until the music stops because of it. Does anybody else have this problem and what do you do to sleep?

I've always had trouble sleeping, and the only thing I've found that actually helps is to make yourself completely exhausted by the time you go to bed. Getting as much exercise and sunlight as you can during the day, and hopefully you'll be tired enough that you'll be able to sleep through the noise.
However, I would also recommend talking to your roommates. If they're playing loud music that late at night, they might just not realize you're trying to sleep.
You also have the option of trying to adjust to one of the alternative sleep schedules, (28 hour day, if your schedule permits, or one that involves less sleep at night and naps during the day).

I either
a) tell them to shut the **** up
b) tell them to shut the **** up and get new roomates for next year
c) learn to sleep through anything
I've done all of the above.
Even if I'm not tired and it's sunny out (I have an entire wall of windows in my room), I can just close my eyes and in 5 minutes I'm napping.
Pretty good skill, imo.

I thought this thread was going somewhere else....
But seriously, my favorite way to pull it off is melatonin, and intense exercise.

My house is dead silent. Also, Im usually the last person awake too. I can also sleep through anything, and as long as nothings on my mind, I can sleep really quick.

My roomates usually have their fun till around 12... 12 is the cut off, and I'm fine with that.
Sometimes I join them, sometimes I'm studying.
People normally have the common decency to not be a douchebag at 2-4am.
Guess your roomates are douchebags.

I rented my own place the last 2 years of school. I had a bachelor apt for $590/month and a 1 bedroom for $650/month. Both included heat and water, but no electricity. These were in west Hamilton, but they get a bit cheaper downtown or in crappier buildings, if you're feeling... adventurous.

Before it was deleted, uh some short rant about you being too scared to confront your roommates the same way you're too scared to confront him about something offensive you said to him.. or something like that (i think in some reference to another post?). Colourfully worded it was
