How does buying one-way GO Bus tickets work?
Hello,
I am not entirely sure about how GO Bus ticket purchases work, but I was hoping someone would have the answers to my question:
Lets say I want to go to Square One from McMaster's GO Bus terminal (one way). Do I need to enter the bus, and pay the driver? Or do I need to buy the one-way ticket (or any GO Transit ticket for that matter) somewhere else?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can buy a ticket on the bus. Its recommended that you buy a ticket ahead of time, either at Compass (student centre) or at the Hamilton City GO Centre located at hunter and james.
I believe the costs should be $8.25, according to GoTransit's Fare Calculator, and you can pay this to the driver at the time of departure.

You can pay the driver or get the one-way ticket. Up to you. There's also the option of buying this scanner card - that'll allow for 2 tickets or 10 tickets (depending on how much you pay) - which you can use at anytime during the year.
To get the one-way ticket just go to the MUSC building & you'll find a Transit booth there in the Lobby Hall. Pay them & they'll give you the ticket. Otherwise, just pay the fee to the driver.

If your coming to Mississauga, I'd suggest getting the Presto Card. It calculates everything for you, just tap on/off when going on the GO bus, plus you can use transit in joining cities for like 0.70 cents or something like that when your using the GO. I'm pretty sure Mississauga Transit and the HSR accepts presto.

They got rid of 2-ride and 10-ride tickets (if that is what you were referring to with the "scanner card"). It's part of an effort to get people to use Presto. They no longer sell or accept 2-rides or 10-rides, but I believe if you still have unused ones you can take them to a GO station to get them transferred onto a Presto card (at least, you could do that during the summer).
