Yay!!! time for my two cents! <3
To all first years who have this deleima! please listen to what I have to say <3
My first year (last year) was in LP (the washroom one har har har) and it was THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE!!!!. but the residence experience is diffrent for evreyone!
Alot of my freinds love it too, you meet ALOT of people. but sometimes there are the parties >.> (dont worry CA's are around to make sure that they arent that offten loud ... w/e CA's are awsome too
)
If ur living in a triple or loft? its still the residence expereince is it not?
if anything keyes, is not residence experience....
But All you first years need to know someting : You might not like your roomates no matter where you are! Dont be discouraged, its not nesessarily a bad thing! McMaster has 22,000 Students, or i should say freinds, Oh, dont foget, it has mee too
and if you meet somone you dont like? hmmm ok that sucks, your down too 21,999 freinds. Another? crappp... ur running low here 21,999... Now sure your not gonna get the numbers of all 22,000 freinds, personaly, i only have 1,100 numbers so far.. but im working on it pshhh its hard to remember who u already have....
But the idea is, that you will have fun and meet great people wheever you are!!!! personaly? I think residence is the best place to start off. you have hundreds of neighbours, who become family instantly. you cant get that much anyplace else! if your guarenteed residence? i say keep it, It is Definatly worth it!
if i could put a price on the fun and all the memories made in residence? it would be worth way more than 1,000$, i would put it around 15,000$
but if u do move off campus, Andre Marlow is an awsome loving guy (whos not single... dammit) but hes SOCS prez, go meet him, hes awsome (but if he breaks up.. HES MINE BACK OFF!!!! ) and if u get involed anywhere youll have a great time (but being in rez is like being involved already
)
P.S. for info im quotingmyself lol.....

Maybe i can shead some light on this
So, as stated earilier evrey year McMaster sends out about 20,000 offrers to students, and usualy only i thin 6,000 accept each year (first years), this year, there was a unanticipated spike where as i think 7,500 students accepted (or an extra 15% of 20,000 idk, i dont pay attention enough but one of the two)
but hey, one benifit, more student fees to spend!!! <3
McMaster is having trouble accomidating the extra 1,500 students in residence aswell as with classes (no room for classes) when it comes to classes there have been no offical metioned plans although some things floating around were to have classes on saturdays aswell or to rent out westdale theater as a lecture hall... i know eh....? and the MSU's Bord of Directors, spesificly VP Ed. is constanly in contact with McMaster to find a soulution which will not hurt our quality of education (or our weekends... )
When it comes to residence, this year, there were too many applicants who accepted residence, as i have been told, as of current there are still 300+ students who are guarenteed residence, whom do not have a bedspace yet, the solution? throw money at students to drop out of residence... sooo. in the end, mcmaster is paying (if all works out) 300,000 to some students who drop residence.....
When it comes to residence, IRC is dealing with Housing (i have my opinions...), as the msu... idk i havent heard anyting yet
But yea.... so too many students acceptec this year, so we are going to suffffeerrrr somehow... who knows... oh yea they also cut funding for facultyies and student services this year, like the CSD... oh wait... now its called SSC >.> new name yay!

P.S. im either falling alseep (ok 19 h meetings that from from noon till 7 AM 2h before an exam.. u try better) or hitting on girls on the SRA when stuff like this is being announced (sorry ill try better ) so it might not all be right but hopefully its sheading some light on the darkness called McMaster"
