I had Ben at first, and he is really nice but since he is new he is not the best lecturer. I switched to Mclean halfway through the year and I thought he was one of the best profs I had first year but I know some people did not like him.
Like any class, if you dont like your prof or you find your not learning anything after the first few lectures, go to a different class. Especially in first year engineering where there are usually 2 or 3 profs for each course

Ben is cool - I liked him a lot. He was much better than McLean.
Childs is the best, by far. But Ben, while new (Second year teaching now), is good too. Sometimes a bit long-winded examples, but overall good.

he's funny and a good guy, but I found him hard to follow and he'd fly through some things since he knew it so well but would take enough time to explain what was going on, if you're good at picking things up quick and what a fun class then I'd go with him

Not very. You get used to it quite quick, and after that you don't really look back.

Real men do math without a calculator.

It doesnt matter for 1C03 if you have lab or tutorial first since (at least for us) they werent related at all but for 1D04 its better to have tutorial first, otherwise your basically learning it in the lab then listening to someone describe how to do it on the computer in lecture form.
Based on what other people said, i would stick to my original statement to see what math prof you like better, so attend each for a bit and see what you think. From the people i talk to its rather you like Mclean or you hate him so dont go around changing your schedule till you know for sure

I had McLean for za3 and Childs for zb3. In my opinion they are the best professors for first year engineering math. However, I went to a couple of Bens lectures, and hes not that bad of a professor. Another thing you could do is just visit other lectures if you have time.

Lots of trig, but thats one of the easiest parts of the course. Most of the course was fairly difficult, but the last section for most people is the hardest, so make sure you stay on top of your work!

So if you're bad at trig, one can assume that they would have to work really hard to understand trig and on top of that do it all without a calculator? :(
