Dreadlocks on Asians
So I'm seriously interested in getting dreadlocks. I'm Asian, so my hair is straight and fine. Can I still get dreadlocks? I've heard of special shampoos that'll get your hair matty, but I really don't know how to get started. Anyone have experience growing dreads?

"Neglect

You will need:
You do not need any products for this method. But if you use products your hair will dread faster.

Dread Wax (optional)
Residue Free Shampoo(optional)
If you use products I recommend the DreadHead Wax and Shampoo.

This is the real do it yourself no maintenance method. All you do is nothing. Maybe wash and wax your hair, just let your hair do what it's going to do and one day you should have dreads."

I have dreads in straight, fine hair - all I did was backcomb the hell out of my hair.. don't use wax! It keeps the hair from moving and therefore from knotting up. And elastics won't help either (just use them while you're sectioning your hair) for kinda the same reason. Check out this community for more info - the memories are super useful! (and you don't need an account or anything)

Good luck. Unless you have super fine baby hair you should be okay, you will have to put alot of extra effort in. But ive seen male and female Asian with dreads so you know its possible
