dropping chem
Hi, I'm in kin and i was wondering if i dropped chem (elective), meaning that i'll end up finishing 9 courses this year, will i still be in honours kinesiology next year? I'll be taking summer school to make up for it. As well, do med/ grad schools look at how many courses you take per "school" semester? I've been getting mixed answers...

If you've been getting mixed answers it would be best to see what grad schools you're interesting in applying/going to and see their requirements?

It depends on the grad school. There are some that care if you don't take 10 courses, but there are many that don't care if its just one, especially if it's just first year. I've looked mainly at schools in the states though.

look at it this way - if it's going to crush your GPA then no grad school will want you. if you drop it and don't meet all requirements for a full course load at all schools, then some is better than none, and you have 2nd/3rd/4th year to make up for it. you're going to have to take chemistry for a LOT of graduate/professional schools so take a really good look if those are something you truly want to pursue. another option is to overload your next term so that you still have 30 units total for the year, but you'd need to have really amazing study habits to pull it off. good luck!

i just know that you wont qualify for u of t's weighting formula(which is dropping your two lowest courses each semester) if you dont have a full course load and i think it would affect you for western as well
