dropping econ, can anyone help?
hi i am planning on dropping my elective next term and take it some other time. i am in eng level 1, and therefore dropping this elective will mean that i have taken only 34 units instead of 37 units this year. could anyone tell me, as to what could be the drawbacks of dropping this(apart from the fact that i'll have to take it sometime later and that could be a pain)?

Well, it would just put more work in your upper years. I suggest just taking it so you are able to focus more in your upper years on courses you require. For example, this year in Comp. Eng i get no electives, but still a full 37 units. Had i not taken both electives last year, ill be about 40 units this year, which would have been much too intense.

In the end, its up to you. My advice is just do it first year and get it over with.

Only real disadvantage is you will put more strain on yourself in upper years. Also, why drop an elective? They could save you at the end with bumping up your GPA to get into a 2nd year stream
