I was in a class in HH and you could feel the seats shaking and the windows rattled and the blinds were moving. It lasted quite a while too. A few people had things fall off their writing table thing too. It was real wierd as everyone was just looking around at eachother trying to figure out what it was. I figured it was just construction cause there is a lot going on in that area and on HH itself.

I was at work in TO and since I work right in the G20 security zone, we all feared the worst and ran down 12 floors of stairs. Worst experience ever.

Yeah Peterborough! I had to check your profile when I saw that, and see you're a Condon. Any relation to Jon Condon of Peterborough?

My friend from Ottawa had to say this about the earthquake (excerpt from MSN convo):
Quote:
[Andrew Luu] says:
like what would cause an earthquake in the middle of the continent
when i first heard about it i was assuming vancouver
Riyad says:
yea i have no clue lol
i was watching the soccer at the time lol... i was like wtf
then i kept watching lol...
|
So, it's not that big of a deal. =P

Apparently it's the most seismic region of eastern Canada, though most of the earthquakes there cant be felt.

Reeves is right - I actually learned something in Natural Disasters - except for Vancouver, I suppose its the biggest seismic region. There's like this enormous fault that made the St. Lawerence, plus all that hard shield-ish rock makes the earthquake waves travel long distances easily.
The news is funny, everyone's freaking out. You see Ottawa? The whole place fell apart, everyone's on the street.

Yeah it was an earthquake, but it's quite minor
I experienced some much bigger ones when I was in Taiwan... slept through them anyway

I like how Stephen Colbert put it: Even Canada's earthquakes are bland.
