ECON 1B03 Textbook Question
ECONOMICS 1B03 , Section - EVE , HOLMES
Required Materials:
MANKIW - PRINCIPLES OF MICROECONOMICS (TEXT AND S.G.)(2 PART PACKAGE)
Optional Materials:
MANKIW - PRINCIPLES OF MICROECONOMICS

What does that even mean??

Are they saying the textbook is optional as long as you have the student guide?

I guess the main question is, what is optional and what isn't?

Here's the thing. From what I understand, it is RECOMMENDED to buy the required materials (Textbook and SG). But you have the option to just get the Textbook.

My experience with this course is to not get that text and just buy the aplia (on-line quizzes and assignments) on the website because you have access to the text on-line for free.

OH Okay. So the required is actually just the textbook... but it's optional to buy the student guide?

Does the student guide effect that APLIA thing (I dont even know what it is)? Or is it just a helpful resource?

And how does that work? Can you get it at Titles or through other students? Is the Aplia helpful?

Aplia is a required part of the economics courses as the classes are huge in size (500+ per core). You will be doing all of your quizzes and class assignments there so ya it's very important, I think it costs like $70 USD. Also I bought the 1b03 text last year and I don't remember getting a student guide, so I'm not really sure if that is important or not (probably not though)

SO it makes no sense to buy the econ textbook from upper years because then you have to buy the code seperately anyways?

when you pay for aplia (where you do online assignments) an online version of the textbook is included. I never used the textbook and got an 11 through hannah holmes notes and podcasts (really good and to the point). bottom line: you don't need the textbook

I got the textbook off my roomate and probably opened it twice. I've never heard of this student guide before and I did well in the class. I would say that you will probably be fine with aplia and the podcasts.

So this "aplia" has an online version of the full textbook that you can go on at any time to study from?
