Is the Econ 1BB3 Textbook Necessary?
I took econ 1B03 last year and with Hannah Holmes and the textbook was completely useless as she only used stuff on her powerpoints which she posted online. Does O'Shaugnessy do something similar to this or does he make you take notes yourself?

I beleive O'Shaugnessy is a female and she reads off her slides in class (pretty much, according to people who have already taken her class).

Yeah, O'Shaugnessy is a female.
I found the textbook really useful, but you can just buy the aplia for the class and get by without an actual textbook. Aplia also has practice tests for every chapter which are optional but help prepare you for midterms/the exam.

Depends on how strong you are in economics. I personally didn't like it so I avoided most lectures
(I wish I didn't) so the textbook came in handy to review concepts since I was making all my notes from her podcasts.

She doesn't read off her lectures nearly as much as Holmes did, and she adds a ton of different examples not found in the book/on her podcasts.

Aplia is defiently worth it though! I wish it was still worth 10% of your mark, instead of the 20/30/50 set up now.

the podcasts have everything you need already
there are some practice problems on the book you might find helpful, otherwise no need for the book at all

totally agree with the comments above. notes have sufficient detail, so don't invest in the book

I liked the textbook. Pleasant read, and it helped. the study guide is the reason I did well in the class however.

I think getting the textbook is a good idea. It suppliments well with her lectures. I wouldnt get both Aplia and the textbook. I did that and i used the textbook more than Aplia. I think i actually wasted my money on Aplia since its not even required anymore. Aplia is good if ou like to do a lot of practice questions but if you want a solid explanation of things go for textbook

The 1bb3 textbook is absolutely recommended. I'll sell you mine (mint condition) for the low price for $30.
