Electrical and Biomedical Engineering w/ Management
Hi all, I'm wanting to switch into Elec & Biomed this year and I'm already in the Management program. I noticed that there is no management tack-on for it. Has anyone tried taking management courses along side with this program? Kinda sucks how I can't keep up with Management...

I dont think you can keep the management with it since it doesnt offer it. But with that said, Idk if you can take the required courses as electives? that way its kinda the same thing.

Electrical and Biomedical Engineering is a tough program as it is. There is no Management / Society option because, quite frankly, you don't have room for it. The program would have to be extended to at least 6 years to accommodate all the courses you need to take.

You can see about getting a minor in Commerce if it's one of the programs you like. I don't know if that is allowed but it should be possible if you sacrifice your summers. Core commerce courses are offered during the summer.

As people have said, there is really no time to take on extra courses. First semester of second year, on days that I had labs (there were 4 labs) I had 7 hours of class non stop. If you really want to get a business minor, during the summer is the way to go.

Yea I've taken a look at the course load, it's pretty intense but exactly what I'd like to do. Yikes, seven straight ours of class? I'm just wondering if the science courses are more killer than the engineering ones? I didn't mind commerce courses but doing summer school after two semesters of hard work would drive me crazy, plus I need to make some money. Since I've already taken both second year maths and a couple courses transfer over I suppose I could take a commerce elective or two. How many credits is a minor in Commerce?

BioMed is a 5 year program, so no, no management.

However, you can do Electrical or Computer and Management (All in ECE)

Hm... calendar says that it's a four year program http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...nt/pg1214.html

Guess it's pretty jam-packed with material. I'm wondering how far just a straight Electrical Engineering degree will get me in terms of the Biomed field... minus the science courses haha

Biomed is a 4 year program.

If you're debating between elec eng and biomed and elec eng, I would suggest just comparing both of their course lists. There are things you miss out on from elec eng by being in biomed and vice versa.

I didn't find the science courses to be harder (its just first year bio and the second half of chem). It was just annoying because they both had labs on top of everything else and you really need to spend time studying for them.
