I took the course in the summer and it rocked!
I had an awesome prof (she only teaches during the summer) and the topics that were covered...were not really that exciting. It was straightforward and direct course with topics including weather, climate, tornados, el ninos, el ninas etc. I found few parts of the course interesting though. And during the summer we had no labs but had two assignments. So if you want to take the course in the summer I would definitely recommend it! I am however unsure on the teachign skills of your mentione prof...you could probably check his ratings at ratemyprofessors.com
On a sidenote I took Enviro1B03 with Bernier and found that class to be pretty average. I didn't enjoy his lecturing style and found the labs a bit pointless.
