I absolutely hated evening classes. Usually the profs would have some type on in lecture marks, or material that you need to know, to keep you from skipping. In my econ class last year, there were literally less than 10 people showing up by the end of the term. I personally think a 3 hour lecture, that late in the day is too much to handle. BuT, everyone is different...

And as for walking home late... I wouldn't worry about it. The surrounding area is basically all student houses, I have never felt unsafe before.

I cannot say enough about 3 hour classes and evening classes. If I had my way all my classes would be 3 hours and in the evening. BUT keep in mind that I am a complete night owl, and general am not in bed before 2am.

I find going to a 3 hour class once a week beats going to 3 one hour classes.

Also do remember that if you miss one day of class, you'll be missing a week of lecture. THat's something that not a lot of people keep in mind. It also means that chilling with your friends at night might be a lot tougher than you expect and you'll likely be pretty beat when you get back home after sitting for a 3 hour stretch

I hate evening classes. Loathe them I thought I would like them, but the motivation to go to class that late is minimal. Professors, to ensure attendance, reveal information that you would only find out about if you went to class. Despite that, attendance decreases anywhere from 20%-75%.

If it can't be avoided, then no use of complaining I suppose. You said you have most mornings off which is good. I don't suggest sleeping in any later than 11. Despite having late classes, it's best to get up at around the same time every day.

Learn the power of naps. Even just lying down for 15 minutes is great for you.

Make friends for these lectures. Over half the reason I even survived my first year evening classes was because of friends and the ability to make snide, uncalled for comments about the prof because we were bitter, tired and hungry.

Speaking of hungry, keep food and drink at hand. The breaks are never long enough to get anything except something from Willy Dog or Union, if you can manage to run. But don't bring something that will make too much noise. No one appreciates a bag of chips being opened in the middle of the prof speaking during the day, so why would they appreciate it during an evening class when everything is by default incredibly quiet?

You'll get a pin and probably also a handout and it will be in the handbook and see tons of posters everywhere, and it's also online, and SWHAT is usually at clubsfest giving out this information as well. I don't remember the number offhand, but it's not hard to find.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Technically, evening classes are 3 hours but I've never had an evening class that actually lasted that long, you're pretty much guaranteed to get out at least 1/2 an hour before 10pm (the prof wants to get out as much as you do!).

I had 3 night classes for both semesters last year and managed to survive and get pretty good marks in all of them
