When are exam results released?
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew approximately how many days after an exam mark would be posted? I wrote an exam today, but feel like I might end up failing the course. I need to know so that I can change a course for second semester which I can't take if I don't receive this course's credit.

Thanks

Unless the prof gives it to you on Avenue before hand (which they are not allowed to do), don't expect to see your exam marks until the 23rd at earliest.

Don't know for sure but I've heard that one of the main reasons is because they don't want students to see marks before writing their last exam. For example: The night before their last final, student X sees that they failed their first exam. This could easily be a distraction from the upcoming exam and increase stress.

The reason you're not supposed to see the grades on Avenue first is because they might not be official and adjustments could be made afterwards.

When they're submitted to the Registrar, all such adjustments have been made and your grade is much less likely to change (though it is still possible; I had that happen on two occasions).

they usually don't post the exam marks unless you email the prof. Again, even then, they likely won't release them till after the final marks are released on MUGSI.

Yes, as most users have said here... marks from final exams are usually input very close to the deadline around the same time they input your final mark because they like to add your exam mark into the system and see how everything averages out to see if they need to make any final tweaks or adjustments to marks before you see your final. Once you see your final mark released then your other marks including exam should appear in Avenue

Actually, grade release BEGINS on Dec. 21.

For example, I have an exam on Dec. 20. They usually get a week or so after the exam to mark it, and in this case, Xmas falls within that week. So, realistically, I'm not expecting to find that result until New Year.

On the other hand, for one my courses, the exam was really early. They've posted that result, as well as the rest of the numbers. It's not that hard to add everything up to get a pretty good idea. Still, that is not the official grade. It's known that "adjustments" occur from time to time.

I'm pretty sure last winter exams, we didn't get them back till January... and this has happened so many times.

You will, however, likely get some marks released from the end of your first exam till then. The official release date is there but that's when all are 'supposed' to start being released... so much anxiety... comparable to solar registration... uggg

So basically to answer your question, unless the prof discloses your marks on Avenue in advance (they're not supposed to and therefore it's really not likely), the earliest you could receive your grades is December 21st. However, as others have stated, you will likely have to wait a week or two longer to get all your course grades back.
