<!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> As of 2009/2010, the Department of Kinesiology has moved from the Faculty of Social Science to the Faculty of Science. In addition to components of nutritional science, there is an emphasis on anatomy, development, and physiology.
Faculty Awards and Recent Features:- A $1-million award was awarded to Kathleen Martin Ginis investigate how best to increase physical activity among people with spinal cord injuries.
- Gibala was featured in the Toronto Star regarding the efficiency of high intensity interval training.
- Kinesiology student Adam van Koeverden won bronze in the Men’s K1, 1000m single kayak and gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece.

Tips for Success:
1. Focus on lecture material when studying, unless the professor emphasizes textbook reading.
2. Be prepared for labs.
3. Attend lectures and tutorials if they’re helpful.
4. There is a lot of memorization with respect to anatomy, so try to review often to reinforce your knowledge.

Academic Opportunities:
Experiential education is meant to provide kinesiology students with hands-on learning experiences through: field placements, internships, volunteer opportunities, and job shadowing.
Career Nights are presented by the Kinesiology Student Society.
Career Events give students the chance to discuss and learn about job opportunities from potential employers.
Social Events/Opportunities:
Many social opportunities are presented by the Kinesiology Society (IWC AB 130):

- Heimbecker Cup
The Kinesiology Games is a weekend filled with competitive sports against over 600 students from Canadian universities.

Professional School MBA, law, medicine, dentistry, chiropractics, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Be sure to check the prerequisites of each program while you are choosing your courses.
