The Film Club

I joined the Film Club. It's the same one as discussed in this thread. Right now it's kind of dead, mostly it's just Brian and a few of his friends. But I'm gonna try to breathe some life into it because I've got nothing better to do. I plan on doing one screening a week. Originally I wanted 2 movies in one night, but that might be a bit ambitious. I'm okay with it just being like 5 guys sitting in a room, but ideally I'd like this to take off some.

For what kind of movies I'm talking about, check out the posters I uploaded on the facebook page.

Plans for the future:
Popcorn, Pop, and Pizza with the screenings
Posters up around campus
Make a little bristol board presentation thingy and post up in the student centre :3
Generally just raise a little hell

Umm, for the "Non-Facebook" crowd, what are the movies that the Film Club's going to be showing?

The first rule of film club is that you talk about film club.

Seen some here and there.. or more than some here and there. All far from deplorable. Surely admirable!

Jesus, you might as well throw some Tarkovsky and Tarr in there if you want people to continue NOT coming to your meetings :/

Unfortunately existentialist arthouse films, old black and whites, documentaries and old school noir are not for everyone.

P.S. This post in no way condones the horribleness of Michael Bay, but at least he can pay for his own meals - *cough* Tarr, the money you spent on your 7.5 hour film could have been spent on food, and no, that isn't worthy of its own existentialist film *cough*

Was thinking about joining, but I would feel out of place with you hip, indie humanities folk, after seeing that gargantuan list of what-the-hell-are-those movies of obscurity.

The president is actually in health sci, and we are far from hip. Just a few film nerds lookin' to look.

We're not for everyone. This is a film club, not the imdb top 250 revue club. That said, if you really look at that list I purposefully left out anything that's really "out there"; the main purpose of this club is to be entertained, while hopefully being challenged or surprised at the same time! If you give them a shot you'd be surprised how much you might like a movie you've never heard of before and otherwise would've never watched.

I'll come up with some more titles, see if I can't tickle your fancy.

P.S. Scarecrow, if you were paying attention, Tarkovsky is already in there (Solaris).

The list looks great. Me and a friend are both film fanatics and would love to attend regular sessions. When is the next meet up and what will be viewed?
