Check the master timetable and see when they're scheduled.

1E03 is term 1, while 1BA3 is term 1 and term 2. So does that mean I can have it in the same semester? I heard 1E03 is a prereq for 1BA3

Life lesson: Don't decide your future based on a "fact" that starts with "I heard..."
1E03 is not a prereq for 1BA3, nor is 1BA3 a prereq for 1E03. Pre-requisites, co-requisites and anti-requisites are outlined in the course calendar.

If a course is only offered in term one, then you can only take it in term one. If it's offered in both terms, then you pick a term to take it in, depending on your courseload per term and whether or not there are conflicts with other courses. So, you could take both courses in term one, provided that their times do not conflict. This information can also be found in the master timetable.

From my understanding, 1AA3 and 1BA3 can be taken in either term. That being said, those two courses were 2nd year courses until this year. This means that the 500+ commerce kids and anyone else in upper years who needs to take the follow-up courses to 1AA3 and 1BA3, that are offered in Term 2 only, need to take them in Term 1.

In other words, there is a low chance that you'll get into either course, if not both, for Term 1, as 600+ people who need to register in each of them would have done so prior the Business I course selection. Though there still is hope.

They may also block a portion of the seats for first years; it's not uncommon to do that. I don't know if they will in this situation, though.

these courses can be taken in the same term. the reason 1ba3 is offered both terms (previously it was 2ba3) is because both first year and second years will be taking this course (previously you could not take this course until second year and it was only offered term 1)

note that all the changes happening in the commerce program for 1st year hasn't been updated on the UG Calender or the course listings. i think the best way to find out would be to visit the DSB website

The course calendar for 2014/2015 is available online, and it is up to date with all of the new changes. Make sure you're looking at the correct course calendar.
