Yes, that's why we keep explicitly saying DON'T BUY YOUR BOOKS YET.

And first year students don't buy their books in the tank, hydropost. Some are in the main Titles store, and the rest are in T28 or T29.

Yes, they do get moved to the tank, but usually a few weeks later.

You buy books from term 1 first, then you buy term 2 later. Makes more sense to wait. Of course, you could buy term 2 when you buy term 1 if you are 100% sure you know what you're taking next semester and you see a real good deal or a used book.

I know most people are advising to buy your books after you go to your first class, but I'm going to be crazzzzyyy and suggest the opposite. I prefer buying my books early because then I get to buy them used and save myself 30-40% on textbook costs. If on first day of class the prof tells me that I don't need a certain book anymore, no biggie... I can refund textbooks and get my money back. The only thing you can't refund is custom courseware. If you wait till your first lecture to buy your books, all the used cheaper books might be gone.

Just a tip

Custom Courseware = photocopies of articles, chapters in books etc. The reason they're so expensive is you need to pay for the rights to use the publication and to photocopy them.

Amara* it depends on the course! First year programs with huge numbers (ie science, eng) always have lots of used books up until the second week (first full week of classes) or later.

Ya, buy your custom courseware last because you can't refund and they are very expensive for a pile of photocopies. Sometimes students share or buy one and then photocopy the photocopies for half the price lol... (note: but beware that is it against the rules since you gotta pay to cover the licensing of the material.)

Is there any way I can purchase the e-book version of a textbook??If so, is it cheaper than the paperback version of the same textbook?

I've never heard of anyone buying e-versions of texts OR paperback versions (CSCT/english courses not withstanding).

I suppose once the information for your courses comes out you can scour the internet.
