Flying in a Fighter Jet
I was just watching Mythbusters, and Adam got to fly with the U.S Blue Angels in a F/A-18 Hornet. I've always wanted/wished to fly in a fighter jet one day, and I was just wondering who else out there dreams of this, or perhaps (luckily) has experienced it?

I've always kinda wanted to fly in a fighter jet (probably a Russian MiG-35!). Although realistically, I'll probably have to settle for flying one in a video game.

:p

I've been in (and flown) many Cessnas as well as other aircraft.
Being a pilot rocks

(Though i wouldn't mind getting in an F-18 for a ride...)

Cool... I've always liked the idea of learning to fly, but I've been discouraged by the Air Force requirement of perfect vision... not counting joining the military, is it acceptable for people with poor (but corrected) vision to pilot, or is that not possible/illegal?

I'm sure if your vision is good enough to drive a car you can be a pilot with a few exceptions.

I wear glasses/contact lenses and I'm training to be a Commercial Pilot / Instructor. There's a few more things to keep in mind, like having a second pair of glasses on me while I fly but it's not a hindrance.

I belive I've heard the Air Force now accepts laser corrected vision.

A little self promotion, if I may.

If you're interested in finding out what you have to go through to get a Canadian Pilot's Licence check this page out on my site http://www.dannyvacar.ca/blog/gettin...ilots-licence/

That's neat... I know they used to not allow it. I would love to learn to fly! One day!

Nah, to be honest, I haven't thought about flying a fighter.
What would be cool is if someone ever got around to bring robots to reality. I would love to pilot something like that.

Looking at the costs... I imagine you could learn to be a pilot via the Air Force and have all of these costs subsidized? At the expense of being in the military for a certain number of years (similar to having the Armed Forces subsidize your post-secondary education)? Do you know anything about this?

Not sure about that. It makes sense. I am considerably out of the fitness guidelines of the Air Force so I never looked into it. They will probably be at the career fair on Thursday though so it may be a good thing to ask.

Any robot in general. The idea of having something crushing cars beneath me is entirely exciting. More recently, the mech (though I don't exactly love the movie, I will admit this machine was fantastic) from District 9 was amazing.
