French 2Z06?
Hey everyone! I'm going to be in first year this September, and I really wanted to take French 1Z06...but since I already took Gr.11 French, the department told me to take 2Z06 instead. The problem is, I really didn't learn much in Gr.11 and I barely remember anything. Will 2Z06 be too difficult for me? Could anyone who's taken the course tell me what topics you cover?

I heard the prof, Gallier-Morgan, is super amazing for 1Z06. Is she still good for 2Z06, and is it possible to get a 12 if I work hard?

Hey I'm actually in the same position as you, except I'm in second year. I took Gr.11 French but haven't taken any french in 2-3 years, so I wanted to take 1Z06. I emailed two emails : one to the french department email and one to the head. The french department administrator assistant told me that there were several students like us. If SOLAR lets me register, then I can take it. and for some reason, SOLAR does let me even with Grade 11 French. She also told me that if it doesn't I could fill out a seat request form.
However, that being said, the chair of the department told me to take 2Z06. So basically, they gave me conflicting responses :S I'm not sure who to listen to. I'm just wondering who did you ask about this situation? :O

and finally to answer your question, one of my friends took both 1z06 and 2z06, and she said 2z06 just has more vocab and the lectures are mostly conducted in French as opposed to 1Z06 where the prof teaches in English. and a 12 is definitely possible!

Yes Mme Gallier-Morgan, is the best prof you will ever have. She is so kind and she knows you are trying to learn so even if you screw it up, she won't get mad. All lectures will be in french, but you pick it up after a while. I didn't like the readings cause they were so weird and abstract but it's 11 or 12 able

I e-mailed the French department, and she told me that SOLAR wouldn't let me register for 1Z06. But I think she did mention to me something like if you haven't taken French for 3 years you can take 1Z06, so you might be okay for it!

Haha part of the reason I want to take French is because of all of the good things I've heard about the prof Could you tell me what I would be expected to know from 1Z06 if I went straight into 2Z06? And what topics (in terms of grammar) did you cover?

Also, does anyone know if French 2Z06 is easier than 1A06?

2Z06 is easier than 1A06 because it is the pre-req for 1A06 (2M06). Also in terms of grammar you cover everything you can think of
