Friday Prayers
I wanted to know if there is any known places where muslim students conduct Friday (Jum'ah) Prayers at McMaster. If so, I would like to know where! Thanks!

Edit: In addition, is it possible for a student to be exempt from or come a few minutes late to a class because of a regular prayer (about 10 minutes on each event?)

Join the Mac Muslim Club, they do friday prayers in the gym I think. The club info is on http://www.macmsa.com/

Regarding class, no one cares, no one will prevent you from entering class late, and no one will care if you show up or not. Its all up to you. This is uni not high school.

If its a lab you're worried about you should see if it's possible to change times, because generally they're a bit stricter with them.

The only time it matters if you're late is if it's a lab, smaller tutorial, a test or a presentation.
You shouldn't be late for a lab, especially on a regular basis, because you will miss the important instructions you get at the beginning.
If you have a class that does iClickers at the beginning, missing class might also be a problem. In first year (at least, for science) the majority of classes have tests outside of class time (Friday evenings), so it probably won't bee to much of an issue in first year, although it might in later years.
If you have a tutorial that gives participation marks, it depends on your TA.
If you can switch it, that would be ideal, because missing the first 10mins of every class can add up and make it harder for you to follow the rest of the lecture, but as long as you're not being assessed in any way then it really doesn't matter.
At any rate, you're definitely not the first or only Muslim student at McMaster, so if everyone else can make it work I'm sure you'll find a way. The MSA will probably be a very good resource, too.
