Frost Week 2016: Jan 5 - 11

 
Running from January 5-11, there will be a wide variety of events each day, to kick off second semester. Included in the week’s events will be a bonfire, a games night, a winter Clubsfest, McMaster night at the Bulldogs, a midnight skate, a trip to Niagara Falls, McMaster Frost Fest, and EDM Beach Party in Sport Hall and a concert featuring Alessia Cara in TwelvEighty.



Frost Week highlights:
  • Check out Frost Fest on Friday for a fun day of food, live music and free swag in the MUSC Atrium.
  • Saturday’s EDM beach party will feature Don Diablo and Grandtheft in Sport Hall, DBAC. Doors open at 9pm, the show is all ages with a beer garden in effect. Tickets will be available online starting on December 23 for $20 (plus tax). Tickets will also be available at Compass starting January 5, 2016 for $25, and at the event itself for $30. McMaster Students Only
  • On January 11, Alessia Cara, the Brampton singer and songwriter best known for the summer smash hit "Here", will perform inside TwelvEighty. Tickets are available at Compass.

TUESDAY

Event: MSU Services Showcase - "Winterlude"
Where: MUSC Atrium
When: 10AM - 3PM

Stop by the atrium in the Student Centre for a showcase of many MSU services. Student representatives will demonstrate how their services operate, and how students can get involved! All avid button collectors should consider this event.

Event: SOCS Bonfire
Where: TBD

Join SOCS for an evening bonfire and keep warm during Frost Week!

Event: Board Games Night
Where: CIBC Hall (MUSC 3rd Floor), MUSC Atrium, Celebration Hall (KTH B116)

Students are invited to play their favourite board games, or try a new one at this year's Frost Week Board Games Night! Bring your friends or make new friends at this event held in MUSC and Celebration Hall (located in KTH B116).

Event: Faculty Night

WEDNESDAY

Event: MSU Clubsfest II
Where: MUSC Atrium
When: 10AM - 3PM

On Wednesday, January 6, ClubsFest is back to join in the winter festivities and help students explore the vast variety of clubs that the MSU has to offer. With clubs from a wide range of categories including Social Issues, Religious, Cultural, Academic and Recreational students will surely find something that interests them. ClubsFest is a great way for students to immerse themselves in a community on campus and get involved in the countless opportunities that are available through the 300+ student clubs available on campus. ClubsFest II will be held in the McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC) Marketplace and adjoining corridors.

Event: SOCS Moonlight Skate
Where: Pier 8
When: 7PM - 11PM

Enjoy an evening skate at Pier 8, hosted by the Society of Off-Campus Students (SOCS). Skates will be available to rent on site, or bring your own! Meeting location for shuttle bus to be announced shortly.

Event: IRC Toga Party
Where: T28 or T29 (Still TBD)
When: 8:30PM - Midnight

Don your bedsheet and head over to IRC's Toga Party - you won't want to miss it!

Event: Hamilton Bulldogs Game / McMaster Night
Where: FirstOntario Centre (Copps Coliseum)
When: Game starts at 7PM, transportation info to come.

Hamilton Bulldogs vs. Niagara Icedogs. Tickets are $12 and include transportation to and from the game, and a Lou's Roast Beef Sandwich! There will also be a 50/50 draw, and a performance by the McMaster Marching Band. Get your tickets at Compass today!

THURSDAY

Event: Rep Fest
Where: MUSC Atrium
When: 10AM - 3PM

Join us in the MUSC Atrium for a showcase of McMaster's various student reps! Faculty, Residence, IRC, SOCS, and MSU Maroons reps will be there to answer questions about their services & programming, and to encourage students to get involved.

Event: IRC Coffee House
Where: Bridges Cafe
When: 8PM - 10:00PM

Be a part of IRC's Coffee House at Bridges Cafe. Come out and enjoy a cozy night filled with amazing performances and tasty treats with the IRC and FYC!

Event: TwelvEighty Club Night
Where: TwelvEighty Bar & Grill
When: Doors at 9:30PM

Join us for the first club night of 2016 - TwelvEighty Thirsty Thursdays!

FRIDAY

Event: Frost Fest
Where: MUSC Atrium
When: 12PM - 4PM

The Frost Festival will put you in a Winter Wonderland right in the middle of campus. It will include free refreshments, churros, and loads of giveaways/swag. In addition, there will be a live music performance, along with a free photoboth to capture the good times.

Event: IRC Polar Bear Run
Where: Starts in front of BSB
When: 3PM - 4:30PM

Do you feel warm in cold climates? Do you wear shorts in the middle of winter? Meet IRC reps in front of BSB for a brisk jog through Faculty Hollow! Hot chocolate will be served after the run in BSB. Remember to prepare for the cold just in case.

Event: Pole Fitness Classes
Where: David Braley Athletic Centre (DBAC) Mindfulness Centre
When: All Day

Drop in anytime for free Pole Fitness Classes at DBAC's Mindfullness Centre! More details to come.

Event: SOCS Niagara Falls Trip
Where: Pickup location (to be announced) & Niagara Falls, ON!
When: 5PM - Midnight


SATURDAY

Event: EDM Beach Party
Where: DBAC Sport Hall
When: Doors at 9PM

Join MSU Campus Events for a Beach Party-themed EDM show, featuring Don Diablo and Grandtheft! Tickets are available online as of December 23 for $20 (plus tax). After January 4th, tickets are $25 during the presale (available at Compass) and $30 at the door. McMaster Students Only




MONDAY JAN 11

Event: Alessia Cara Concert

MSU Campus Events and CFMU 93.3 Presents Alessia Cara Live at McMaster on January 11th, 2016!

Alessia Cara, is a Canadian singer and songwriter from Brampton, Ontario, best known for the summer smash hit "Here". Her debut album Know-It-All dropped on November 13, 2015, with similar musical styling's Nora Jones and Taylor Swift.

She's performed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, has made an appearance on Taylor Swift's 1989 World Tour and now for one night only she will be performing AT MCMASTER!

Tickets will be available at Compass starting at 9am on December 4th, 2015.

Students: $15 + Tax

Guests: $20 + Tax
