GEOG 2RU3 or 2RC3: US or Canadian Geography
I am debating on whether to take 2RC3 or 2RU3 as an elective. I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this course.

Any piece of info will help, thanks!

I suggest 2RC3. Peace is teaching it and he's a great prof. The class is fun, interesting and his assignments/grades are very fair.

I just took 2RU3 last year with Mercier and it was pretty boring. I like Mercier but this class just didn't do it for me. He is a little harder on lower-level courses than Peace is. The assignments are uninteresting and the marking can be difficult.

I took both and found US Geog much more interesting. I didn't find either class hard, though I have had both Peace and Mercier multiple times in other classes. They're both about memorisation and follow pretty much the same format. Its potatoes and patatas

For GEOG 2RU3, the textbook is not required but it is useful because we are asked to label regions, cities and states on a US map for both the midterms and exam and they have maps in the textbook which are helpful when studying. Dr. Mercier goes over these maps in class but if you do not catch it, you can always look in the textbook. For Geog 2RC3, Peace took quite a few questions from the textbook that were not in the lecture notes and put them on the midterm and exam so I would say its most useful for Geog 2RC3.

I've taken both courses too!

I found 2RU3 tougher than 2RC3, but they are both quite close in difficulty, which is to say the courses are fair when it comes to grading.

The textbook wasn't useful for 2RU3 at all. For 2RC3, definitely get the textbook. Dr. Peace pulls a lot of questions from the readings on the tests and exam. It was the difference between a mark in the 70s and doing well.

Both courses were enjoyable though. I like both professors!
