German 1b03
Hi, I've taken grade 10 and 11 German, but not 12th. However, I'd prefer to take the Intermediate German class rather than Beginner's, because I only want to take a one-term class. Will I be able to handle it? I had marks in the 90s in the German courses I have taken, but it has been a couple years. Which prof is easiest?

I can't speak for the German class, but I had a similar situation with spanish last year. I got a 92 in my last year of high school spanish, so i figured I'd take the intermediate class, even though it had been a while since I took spanish. In the end, I got absolutely slaughtered. That class was the bane of my existence 1st year, and dragged down my average. If german is anything like that (and based on the descriptions of both courses, it is), take the beginner one.

i believe that the prof. for german 1b03 and 1z06 is same. his name is nikolai penner and he is a reallly good prof. i took german 1z06 last year and really enjoyed it. i also believe that german 1b03 (intermediate level i) is the same as (beginner level ii) which will be the one im taking this year. i think that u have to have the grade 12 credit but then again u can talk just talk to the prof or an academic advisor and they will tell u what to do.
hope this helps =)

I took German 1Z06 and German 2Z03 (this is the same course as 1B03). There were a lot of first years in 2Z03 who were in the same situation as you.

I wrote a review of German 1Z06 here. If you already know all the stuff I mentioned, than you should be good enough for 2Z03.

Also, Nikolai Penner is a pretty cool prof. He's the only one who teaches the lower level courses.

I managed to get an 11 in 2Z03 without doing too much work.

How much will it help me to do Rosetta Stone -> German , before doing 1z06 ? I didn't have the option for German in my school because my school was too stuck up and Italian-based No way would they ever teach German in MY high school!

Rosetta Stone is alright. It can teach you vocabulary, but not grammar. I'd say only get it if you aren't gonna pay for it .

I played with it a lot back in grade 10, and it made the first few weeks of 1Z06 super easy. Not much else though :p.
