getting dressed
so if you live in a traditional residence that is not les prince, is it awkward for you to get dressed in your room when your roommate is there? or are you supposed to get dressed in the washroom in a stall?

(ps, it's because I'm self conscious about my body)

It's not awkward if you stare them straight in the eye with George Michael playing in the background.

in my room, my roommate would look at his computer screen and id just be behind him a few feet by my closet and change my boxers with a towel around me still. it may be awkward for some at first but imo, most people dont care about that stuff in res

My roommate and I both used our dresser door to shield ourselves while we changed. It won't be much of a problem, you'll both get accustomed to when the time comes.

Why would it? Are you 14?

Could always have a conveniently placed chair or something if you're not comfortable?

It depends on your wake up/sleep times. I shower in the morning so I get changed then, but otherwise my roomate had class while I woke up or vice versa so it didn't matter

If you are really scared you could take your clothes to your bed and change under your blanket..

I haven't lived in a residence but I've shared enough tents and been in enough change rooms to know that everyone has different feelings about nudity. So my answer is that it will likely depend on how you and your roommate feel. There are plenty of people out there who don't care about other people of the same gender seeing everything, and there are many others that have various degrees of discomfort about nudity. Personally I'm pretty self conscious about my body too so I understand where you are coming from. My personal advice is to do what it takes to make yourself feel comfortable, but work on gaining confidence in your body. Believe me. It feels a million times better the first time in a long time you feel comfortable doing something that you haven't done because you're afraid of what other people will think of your body.

Blankets.

No but really, I imagine that after living them for a couple of weeks, you'll get used to it. Especially if they don't care. But if it really bothers you that much,

- hide behind closet door
- hide under blankets
- change in washroom stall
- kick roommate out when you needa change
(jk about the last one don't do that)

^This worked for me. But each person is different. When you move into residence, try it out both ways and see what you're most comfortable with.
