Getting A Look Around Mac
I'm going to mac in september and I really haven't explored the campus as well as I should have. I don't want to go to school and be lost about where I'm supposed to go. I was just wondering if I would be able to go visit the campus and walk around and check it out. I know there are tours but I'd rather go myself and just walk around instead of having someone guide me through the important parts of the campus.

Yeah, go ahead! It's no problem at all, everything is usually open around now because summer school is still in session. It's a good idea to get a look and feel for yourself. Plus you have a general idea of where your classes might be, so you can check out those locations too.

You should definitely come to campus and look around. Between summer classes, graduate students, employees and summer campus there's actually a reasonable number of people around campus. Come and explore and if you happen to get lost, just politely ask someone for directions. Note that in the evening some buildings may be locked, so its probably best to come during normal business hours (9-5).

how easy/hard is it to find class in your first day of class.
I been to mac once but I basically don't know anywhere.
But I have welcome week to figure out my buildings right?

you'll figure out most of the important buildings during welcome week (plus you should get at least one map of the campus).

Finding classes usually arent too hard. Once you remember the names of the buildings the acronyms are easy to remember. Plus rooms numbers are pretty standard (B indicates basement, if the first digit is 3 it's on the third floor, etc.)

There's a 10 minute break between classes (unless your prof tends to go overtime, most of profs haven't done that). Unless you have 2 classes across from campus it's more than enough time to figure out where your next room is. Plus it's the first day of classes, most of the time the lecture is just an overview of the entire course and it's not surprising to have classes end earlier on the first day

There is also Welcome Day on August 6th. You don't have to take a tour and can just walk around. There will be stuff to do too.

Plus, Welcome Week reps will be all over campus during the first days of class, so if you need help getting to a building just ask them! If they are on their way to class they might not be able to walk you to class, but they'll at least be able to give you directions.

There will also be SOCS reps in the atrium of the student centre who will walk you to your class if you are worried about getting lost.
