There's also another way, but it's much more limited. Taking the Lakeshore West train STRAIGHT to Hamilton GO Station, and then taking the 51 from the GO Station or the 5C/5B/52.
However, this train only runs to Hamilton on weekdays afternoons, but I don't know the exact times. It's mainly for people coming back from work. However, it's not really conducive to where you live - York U Bus is probably the best.

Like I said, if you take the QEW express you have to get off at Columbia College and walk 10-15 minutes to McMaster.

I know, I was just laying out an extra possibility. :] And she was saying that it went straight to Mac, which it technically doesn't.

Well, it's pretty close :\ A nice walk in summer wouldn't do much harm either ^-^. You can also take the HSR to McMaster from Colombia College if you are too lazy to walk.
