I signed up for courses the night that solar opened for 3rd year engineering students, and I agreed to my payments agreement 2-3 days after that

Your student ID card is essentially an HSR bus pass from Sept 1 - Apr 30. It must have a valid sticker on it though which is sent to you in the mail over the next few days.
The fees are included in your tuition (can't opt out) so it isn't exactly free, but your getting one heck of deal!

Your basically paying ~100 for the bus for the full school year (including winter and reading week breaks)

You can't use your student card as a pass like you do for the HSR, but you can use it to get the GO student discount, which is cheaper than adult fare.
GO is probably the best option if you're going from Hamilton to Toronto.

Just random information, but the Student 10-ticket ride is 10-15% cheaper than the adult 10-ticket ride depending on where you start and where you end up.
