GPA Engineering [POLL]
I graduated this year with an 8.5 GPA from Engineering. Is that respectable? That includes 3 Fs. I feel like I fucked up, and that my GPA could have been a lot better, especially without the 3 Fs. My friends say that I'm suffering from what is called an impostor syndrome. But it feels like I've closed my options of going to Grad school later, if I ever wanted to.

What do you guys think?

FFS, its just first year. Keep up the good work because marks tend to improve after first year.

FFS, learn to read first. He said, he graduated this year.

To the OP, quit worrying. If you want to do a Masters in Engineering, you can get admission if you know some profs. Hopefully you built some rapport with some profs during your time here. If you want to do an MBA, a lot of business schools look at last two years average and as long as its above a 3.0 (on scale of 4.0), which is an 8.0 (on scale of 12.0), you can apply and still hope to get in with a good GMAT score and other factors that are considered.

About the 3 Fs, you can always explain them if you've had valid reasons. Although three failures are a lot, its still possible.

I'm assuming you don't have a job right now, which may be making things worse. If you do have a job, quit whining. No offence.

for eng i would say 8 is respectable, but if you want to be really competitive i would think 9/9.5+ would look fantastic for an employer or grad school

Depends if you want grad school or not. If you want grad school over a 10 is good. If you want a good employer and a salary >= 65-70K / annum then an 8 is all good. Of course if you want Google then u might want to aim higher.

Apple is even higher - like 12 because Apple is better and innovative.

If you also have lots of side projects, then sure, that's a decent average. If you literally only did your school work and have no self-taught experience, then no not so much.
