Great Sil Article
Quote:
I am convinced that Peter George and the his administration must have the film “Field of Dreams” playing on a continuous loop during their board meetings, for they have certainly embraced the adage, “If you build it, they will come.”
I’ve been on this campus for five years, and since that time, I’ve seen the opening of the Student Centre, T-28 and T-29 (funny, I didn’t realize permanent was spelt with a ‘T’), Mary Keyes, the DeGroote Centre of Learning and Discovery, The Burlington Campus, McMaster Innovation Park, Les Prince Hall, and now the Athletic and Recreation Centre. The only thing more pathetic than spending five years in undergraduate studies, is that fact that the university has built or acquired nine new buildings in that time.
With each new building erected, the McMaster administration has let in more and more students, or perhaps, more correctly, it’s the other way around. Either way, the population is getting out of hand at McMaster. It’s a university, not India.

I think the author, Ian, has a great point to make here, especially after we all recieved an e-mail from P George, about the university being so greatly in debt. Any sane person would just need to look around at all the construction and new buildings and clearly see that we aren't in debt, or just very bad financial planners.
What are your thoughts on the recent construction and debt issues at McMaster?
