I think something like 72 of 24000 undergrads pulled this off last year.

Should i start mailing out 72 congratulatory letters? All this makes me think is, why do you know this? How do you know this? What the hell inspired you to find such a insignificant fact?

The names of each person who accomplishes a 12.0 SA are published each year. It's not hard to find out.

Maybe it's because I aim for something beyond mediocrity? When you are setting goals, it's not a bad idea to see who else is achieving them and how.

And this lesson has been brought to use by the letter B, for brown nosing it. How would seeing 72 (apparently) names on a list help you in your studies? Are you really saying that you sought out the people on the list to ask them how to get 12s? If so, 1) OMFG HAHAHAHAHA, 2) No one can give you a sure fire method to get all 12s, 3) You need to find a hobby or social event to attend if this is part of your schedule

Leave her alone. I looked up the list too, though my reason for doing so was to explain to my first year overachieving-in-high-school coworker that the provost's list is super hard to achieve since she apparently assumed that was what her future held.
That said, I've known people on this list and it's a huge accomplishment, but it's not impossible and it's awesome that people are aiming for it. Why wouldn't they look up the list? Why wouldn't they want to know if it's an attainable goal?
Why in the hell was her first post voted down for giving a stat on the provost's list? This thread is irritating.

Seriously forget about the useless titles and awards Mac might give you. Get the mini scholarship money but they're also insignificant in the long run. Mac is not known for its financial benefits.
What you should focus on, is maintaining your gpa for the rest of undergrad and going to medical school after. That's the end reward in and of itself.
Good luck.
