Yes, happy new year to all the Persians who gather in the IAHS lobby.
Enjoy some couscous.

I only knew because of the movie Argo
Well...sort of. Because of the movie, I looked up what actually happened (ie the non-fictionalized version) and the visas they'd originally made showed that the six Americans entered the country a few days *after* they were scheduled to fly out, because the person who made the fake visas didn't realize that Iran has a different calendar. But then one of the Canadian embassy workers was checking the documents and caught it, and all was good.
Anyways, happy new year!

I wouldn't be surprised As was emphasized heavily by the people involved, it's "BASED" on a true story, which allows them to take creative license
Slightly related: What are the official languages in Iran?

The widely spoken one is the Persian language. The other ones are Azeri Turkish, Kurdish..

That's what wiki says, I just always thought there was more than one official language.

Yep, the official language in Iran is Persian.
"Other languages, such as Kurdish, Turkish dialects (Azeri, Tüurkmen,) Baluchi and Arabic are also spoken in some regions."

I was curios too :p

YES! they were afghani! But the movie was honest in many parts. And it did at last say that not a single drop of blood was shed through the whole situation (american). IT did not mention that the Assatollah in fact, even with all his sheer insanity, stood against the hostage taking! This was left out..
But no need to be political.

So, in Iran, it's not 2013?
I am aware 2013 A.D. is based on the death of Jesus Christ. Now I am really curious what year is represented over there.
