I have a question about the Meal Plan!
I selected the small meal plan because I plan to cut down the amount of my eating habits. I won't be eating a lot- but since I don't know the prices of the food around the campus, I can't really calculate and decide if I should get the Light meal plan or the Small.

I see that quite a few people said they had a lot of money left at the end of the year from their meal plan, so I'm trying to select the right one to avoid any complications.

please help me out! Any advice? suggestions? comments? I'm all ears!

The price of food on campus is pretty expensive, regardless of where you go. Certain items are cheaper than others but it really all depends on how often you eat and what you buy (meals can rage from $5-$15). I personally began with the small meal plan and ended up having to add almost $700 to my card towards the end of the year, but it really is situational. You did mention however that you plan on eating smaller amounts so I would recommend the light meal plan simply because you can add more to your card if necessary!

Regardless of what you order/how you eat, choose the smallest mealplan. You can add money to your plan at any time.

Definitely choose the cheapest/smallest meal plan you can!!!

Like the others said, you can just add more money to it if you need to later. Something to note that I didn't know until the year started: if you have leftover money on the meal plan you get in first year it WILL NOT transfer over to the next year!! (flex vs freedom plan)

So having more money on your meal plan from the start isn't a really wise choice. A lot of people end up either having to waste a ton of cash at the end to make use of their remaining funds, or just having the funds left over and therefore wasted/given to Mac because they chose the larger meal plans.

DO NOT GET THE BIGGER MEAL PLANS!!!

Actually your money does get transferred over to next year depending on what type is left in your account. All the meal plans have the same amount of BASIC which is the money you spend on campus and doesn't get transferred. The difference between these plans are the FREEDOM portion which is the money you can spend offcampus. So by end of the year if you have FREEDOM money left in your account u retain that amount and can use it next year

Just add more money. The extra amount will go to basic anyway.
