Hi Jackie ! Welcome to macinsiders and McMaster's faculty of Engineering

Here's the B.Tech Website:
http://mybtechdegree.ca/home/

In B.tech there are 3 specializations after first year: Biotechnology,Process automation & Automotive and vehicle technology.

Automotive and Vehicle Technology:
Learn about the design, operation and manufacturing of advanced combustion, hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles. Gain experience in CAD for component and system design, virtual-vehicle prototyping, and the use of simulation tools. Study vehicle safety design, mechatronics, advanced electronic control systems, and the selection of advanced materials for vehicle manufacturing applications. Employment opportunities include positions in automotive and vehicle assembly companies as well as firms designing and manufacturing parts and system components.

Biotechnology:
Study genetic engineering, cell biology, molecular and microbiology, analytical instrumentation, and bio processing. Learn about immunology, virology, genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics. Develop the skills that will allow you to pursue a career in pharmaceuticals, food production, analytical and testing services, as well as policy and regulation. Employment opportunities include positions as lab and production technologists, quality assurance and application specialists, drug and biotech sales and marketing representatives, bioinformatics specialists, and research and development associates.

Process Automation Technology:
Develop highly tuned analytical and design skills, and gain specialized knowledge in sensors, instruments, actuators, industrial networks, process control and automation, SCADA, programming, statistical process control, Internet technologies and integration of plant floor data with business systems. Employment opportunities include positions in manufacturing sectors such as steel, chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and power generation, as well as with companies that bring technological innovation for process automation and manufacturing applications to industry.

Here is a short video about each specialization: http://learningin3d.ca/streams.html

Also, here are the courses that you are going to be taking in first year B.Tech:
http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...13/pg1240.html

As you can see from above, in first year B.Tech you share most of the courses with your peers (regardless of your specialization!). In additional to these courses, you have to take 2 courses that are related to your stream, and this is shown under "Stream Course List".
Course selection is going to be in June:

Good luck with your upcoming year
