Hello everybody!
My name's Viktor Kapetanovic and I'll be studying Engineering in the fall. Any tips? haha...I really enjoy this forum; it's already helped me with choosing my courses and giving me an idea of what to expect.
Happy to be part of it!

Hey Viktor, welcome to macinsiders and the faculty of engineering Just work hard in first year and don't drop any courses (especially if your thinking about getting into something competitive like civil, mechanical, biomedical, management). Even though the 2 electives are not required for entry into second year and can be taken whenever you should still take them in first year because having a full course (37 units) will make it easier to get into a competitive program

If you have a free choice you are very lucky (can drop courses but can't fail any or else you lose the free choice !).

Here's a list of electives that you can take in first year:

Make sure you take electives that interest you so you can get high marks in them.
