help!
so im going into my third year, honours econ (prospectively), however i only have 48 units completed.
this is because first year i took 27 courses and then in second year, i failed a class, and also left out 3 classes which i planned to take in the summer. So now im technically missing 4 classes because i failed one, and am still considered a second year. Im currently redoing econ 1bb3 to get into honours econ, so if i make it in will this count as 51 units and push me into third year? or :s? and what if i take two classes this coming summer semester? i want it so that im caught up, or atleast only behind by 1 class, and so that this coming september i'll officially be in third year like im supposed to be
ugh any help is appreciated!!

I'm not 100% sure, but a review is completed after 18 units, so unless you're taking 18 units by August (the next reviewing period I think), you're out of luck. You won't be a Level 3 student until April. This really sucks and I know a lot of people in the same situation. Unfortunately you might need to take an extra semester/year to catch up on the Level-3-specific courses you miss.

In econ, you shouldn't have too much of a problem taking third year courses as a level II student. The only classes you need to be in honours to take are 3F03 and 4A03, and you technically can take them in non-honours with high enough grades in 2GG3 and 2HH3, and most people wait until 4th year to take these anyway.

You don't get additional units for retaking a class, so your best bet would be summer school followed either by overloading or summer school again next year.

Unfortunately, the Level you're in depends on how many courses or units you've taken, not always what courses or units you've taken. To put it another way, even if you've met every course requirement so far, but have 40 units by the time you're in your 3rd year, you would still be considered a 2nd year. You could do summer school to catch up next year, but for this year, you will likely remain listed as a 2nd year (officially) until you reach 60 units, I believe. Things may have changed from when this was explained to me, but that's how I understood it. The academic advising office should have a lot more information about this for you and I'm sure they'll be happy to help. Best of luck
