You should learn the trumpet. Trumpets are ****ing awesome!

Funny story about trumpets. I took Grade 9 Music to prove to my friends that I could pass it (in hindsight it probably wasn't a good idea to take something I didn't want/like just so that I could prove them wrong). I got the trumpet, lol. I did it but it wasn't easy. I got 100% on all the theoretical stuff because outside of the first playing exam I knew I was going to fail the playing tests, and I did.
I am looking for something that won't cost me over $500. I am no good at music, and really like the water but don't know how to swim. I will be living in Hamilton for the summer (possibly for the last time ever).
Finally, I have begun to work out again. I used to be in amazing shape. I'm not in horrible shape by any means but it was eye opening last week when I couldn't run 6,400 meters. A week later and I can run 80% of it.

Trumpet is the one instrument I wish I was super duper amazing at. Screw guitar. There's no sound like a trumpet. XDD

Learn how to solve a Rubik's Cube. I found it immensely satisfying when I solved it for the first time, despite my attempts at impressing friends and family being met with mediocrity.
If you don't already have one, they can he had for abput $10 for a decent one in stores (or about the same price for a good one online). I'd stay away from the $1 ones no matter what.
You can Youtube how to solve a regular 3x3, then once you have the algorithms memorized, just pull it out and practise whwnever you're waiting for a bus or something.
And if you likei t, step up to bigger or differently sized cubes, eg 2x2x3, 3x3x4, and 7x7x7. Bigger cubes seem a lot more difficult than they are, while I find that people underestimate the difficulty of the awkwardly shaped ones.

Bigger cubes only requires you to know the how to solve the smaller cubes. You use some algorithms for the 4x4x4 cube to get the 5x5x5 cube into a 3x3x3 cube configuration. Then you solve the rest of it the way you would solve a 3x3x3 cube.
But yeah, I find rubik's cubes to be quite relaxing now. I like to do them before tests/exams.

I crochet. I find it relaxing, it keeps me busy, and I have something to actually hold when I'm done. The majority of the things that I make I donate to a women's shelter, and in return they give me yarn that's donated to them. So it all works out in the end! If anyone is interested in learning how to crochet, there's a ton of beginners lessons on the internet, as well as free patterns.
I also like to play the trombone (though I haven't in a while), and I read an insane amount. I've also started going for more walks, and plan on riding my bike some more, especially to get to work.

Crocheting is really easy! I'd be totally willing to help anyone learn in September when I'm back in Hamilton as long as the person brings their own yarn and hook.
I used to only make scarves because patterns scared me, but I've since made stuffed animals like monkeys, ladybugs, rabbits, etc. I crocheted most of my Christmas presents last year, which saved lots of money and seemed more personal. I'm currently making a little baby blanket with a hood!
In short, I think it's a fun and useful hobby!

I didn't want to fill the thread of pictures (and I don't really know how to resize them), so I hope you don't mind going to the link. Not all of the pictures are the things I've crocheted, but the majority are.
