Hey guys, Im in engineering right now but want to get into honours mathematics and computer science next year. Thing is i dont have 1md3, but i am taking 1d04 for programming. What can i do about this? Does 1d04 count as an alternative because i dont think 1md3 runs next term?

I highly doubt 1D04 will count as an equivalent to 1MD3, they're somewhat similar, but not really the same thing.

I spoke to Sally Williams about dropping a course last year and she saw my marks and asked me why I wasn't looking into transferring to Eng I - she said I would have to take the professional engineering course and engineering design as well as first year chemistry in order to transfer, and that my Physics 1B03/1BA3 together could be an equivalent to the engineering physics (but 1BA3 is what I was looking at dropping). She didn't mention anything about me having to take 1D04 so I assume that my credit in 1MD3 was equivalent, so I would expect that it works the other way around as well. Ask an academic advisor but I think that you probably will be allowed to use your 1D04 credit to get around 1MD3. It seems like most of the courses that have 1MD3 as a pre-req also list 1D04 as pre-req too.

Well, I looked up the 1md3 course website and they seem to be reading the exact same textbook as we are in 1do4. This makes me think that they are equivalent. If not, at least worth arguing about.

that will definitely be fine if you talk to sally williams they are both intro to programming. 1md3 is the prereq for comp sci 2s03 and 1d04 is the prereq for sftwr eng 2s03 i believe. Comp sci 2s03 is cross-listed with sftwr eng 2s03 so....

I think CS 2GA3 also lists 1MD3 as a pre-req but since it's also a crosslist as SE 3GA3, I'm not sure if the SE prereq is also 1D04. Still, it should be fine.
