Hi Danielle!
I
previously covered Horizons in a homepage article a while back, and I'm glad you're looked into it!
I went to Horizons in my first year (well.. technically
before I started my first year since Horizons is in August).
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
Horizons is basically a conference where you stay in Residence at mac for a weekend (get to experience rez life), you get put into groups and you do many leadership and team building activites, icebreakers, and you meet a load of amazing and talented people (I met friends that I still see day-to-day and it's all thanks to Horizons).
Being someone who was very shy in first year, Horizons definitely helped me to break out of my shell and get more involved at McMaster. It was one of the inspirations that got me to start the MacInsiders club last year!
Throughout the conference there are also some great keynotes and speakers that come in, one of my favourites being Baillie (you'll find him one of your favs too!).
Irena is running the conference this year, so it should be great. She promised me to have the application on the website last week but it isn't up yet so I'll contact her and try to post it on macinsiders for you.
